Makeup question, I got a ';too light'; foundation. If i get a powder one shad darker what will that do?

The foundation i got ended up being a touch lighter than I thought if i get a shade darker foundation what will that do as far as the look.

Oh and how long should i wait for the foundation (cream) to dry before applying the powder? Will my brush be ruined or will the cream foundation dry and then i can just brush off the crud? (if there's any) I'm new to makeup!Makeup question, I got a ';too light'; foundation. If i get a powder one shad darker what will that do?
Just get a darker foundation, and mix the two together until you find your perfect shade. Use the same type of foundation, though. Not a darker powder on top of a lighter foundation. You know, you can return it, too. If you have the receipt or the packaging, you should be fine. Just explain that it's too light for your skin.

And you don't need to wait for foundation to dry to apply powder. However, you should be using the powder just to 'set' the makeup. It should be colorless (translucent) and have no coverage built into it. This will look too cakey. Your brush will not be ruined for doing its job. If you get makeup on it, just wash it with soap and warm water. Then, let dry. Makeup question, I got a ';too light'; foundation. If i get a powder one shad darker what will that do?
You should go see a professional and let them color match you. Lancome does this everyday, no appointment needed. The plus is they will give you a 10 day supply of your foundation. Take the incorrect color, wear the new one and buy it if you love it. Secondly, you should use a sponge for cream foundation or a brush and a puff or face brush to apply a powder. Never use the same brush for these. It's like oil and water honey, they don't mix.
';I wear L'Oreal True Match Foundation; it's really light and matches your original skin tone.';
